After a windless Sunday we were hoping a 14-16 knot forecast would deliver
more than it promised. It didn't. On arrival at Gowlane a very gusty and
almost bolt offshore wind greeted us so hypermincing mode was activated.
Eventually boredom made me rig the 5.8/109 combo. On walking this kit to
the water the wind seemed to be picking up so I launched and to surprise
planed straight off the beach! The wind continued full power for about
30mins allowing a change down to the 96 and although the swell was small I
scored a couple of nice waves. However the wind then returned to gusty
marginal shite so in spite of much persistance quits were called perhaps
earlier than preferred.
Just checked tomorrow...a 19 knots WNW forecast...maybe better?
